Offshore Drone Delivery Without Delay

A missing spare part can keep a platform, a wind turbine or a ship at anchor waiting for days. Usually the part isn't far away. The delay comes from getting it there' waiting for a helicopter slot , or for the sea to calm down enough for a boat. Offshore drone delivery closes that gap with a direct, unmanned flight that takes whats needed straight to the destination.

At BFA, we are building Goliath for exactly this kind of work: a fully electric heavy-lift cargo drone with a payload of 120kg, designed to fly autonomous missions beyond visual line of sight. Storm is no delay.

Why supplies get stuck offshore

Boats are affordable, but they are slow and they depend on the waves. Moving cargo from a small vessel onto a turbine or a ship is only safe in fairly calm seas, so crews lose working days to the weather every season. Helicopters are fast, but they are expensive.

How offshore drone delivery helps

Goliath is to designed to fly those loads straight from a port, a service vessel or a nearby platform to wherever they are needed. Nobody must launch a boat or book a helicopter.

It flies up to 72 km/h and stays in the air for up to 40 minutes, which suits quick trips across harbors, anchorages and wind farms. It's fully electric too, so there is no aviation fuel to store.

There is a weather advantage as well. After a storm, the wind often drops long before the waves do. Boats have to wait for the swell to settle, but a drone's main limits are winds, so it can often fly while the sea is still rough. Storm is no delay.

Where Goliath fits at sea

  • Deliveries between shore and the sea

  • Search and rescue missions

  • Inspection and monitoring

Flying over open water is demanding. Goliath is built on a light, patent-pending frame. It stays connected to the shore.

Where we are now

Goliath is in flight testing. We would like to hear from port authorities, ship managers and offshore wind service companies who want to help shape how cargo drones fit into their work. Get in touch with us!

Common questions

WHAT IS OFFSHORE DRONE DELIVERY?

It means using an unmanned aircraft to carry cargo between shore, ships, and offshore sites. It's mostly used for urgent items like spare parts, tools, and medical supplies.

CAN DRONES FLY WHEN SEA IS TOO ROUGH FOR BOATS?

Often, yes. Waves limit boats far more than they do an aircraft. A drone's main limits are wind and visibility, so it can frequently fly while the swell is still too high for a transfer.

WILL DRONES REPLACE HELICOPTERS OFFSHORE?

No. Helicopters will keep carrying people. Cargo drones handle the urgent part that can't wait for the next boat but doesn't justify a helicopter.
